About The Authors

Denise Kozlina - Deceder and Yvonne Kozlina

Yvonne and I started writing books at the kitchen table when we were five and six years old respectively.  We made up a story together, our mother folded up large sheets of paper to make a book, Yvonne drew the pictures and I wrote the words.  We talked about how we would one day create a “real book” and now, 50 years later it’s a reality.  A is for Airedale developed because of this history and because Yvonne was, is and always will be a fantastic artist in many mediums and styles (check out her illustrator page).  I’ve taught for 34 years in the fields of special education and currently as a reading teacher at Raccoon Elementary in the Hopewell School District.  I love reading and writing with my students and love Airedales.  I now have an Airedale named Bella, she is the third Airedale my family has had.  The book A is for Airedale put all of our loves and talents together and we hope you love it too.
